Gemotions

The air in the library felt thick and heavy as Emily sat at the table. She had always loved the library; this time it felt different. She'd been helping the historical society catalogue old documents, and in the process, she'd discovered a time capsule. It looked like a lock box from an old movie.

Inside, she found an old photograph, several letters written in elegant cursive, and a small, dried flower. The stories felt haunting. The faces in the pictures were familiar, and yet, completely foreign. Her own life felt so small.

She felt a tremor run through her body. The silence of the library was almost deafening. Every detail of the past felt overwhelming, weighing her down, making her want to escape. Her head was swimming.
