From his balcony, Daniel watched the setting sun paint the city in hues of orange and purple, a sight he usually found soothing. Tonight, it just seemed…loud. The announcement lay crumpled on his coffee table, a testament to the chaos brewing inside him. He felt a persistent flutter in his chest, like a trapped bird desperate to escape.

He’d finally found a place, a home. Now, the rug was being pulled out from under him. He took a long, unsteady breath, the air thick with the scent of impending change. His fingers drummed a restless rhythm against the metal railing. The vibrant city below, normally a source of inspiration, now felt distant, almost mocking in its indifference.

He wanted to scream. Instead, he forced himself to unclench his jaw, to take another breath. He had to think, to plan. But the thought of it sent another wave of unease crashing over him.
