The aroma of freshly brewed coffee usually soothed David. Today, it was just another irritant. He stared at the "Welcome to the Editorial Team" email, the words practically vibrating with forced enthusiasm. He loved the tech sector. He thrived on the jargon, the rapid-fire innovation. Editing? He had never wanted to work with the content team.

He slammed his fist lightly on his desk, feeling the tremor travel up his arm. He would finish writing his current article first. It had to be perfect. Precise. Everything he valued.

He rewrote the opening paragraph for the third time, his fingers finding the familiar flow of typing. The new email from his would-be editor? Still unopened. There would be time enough to contemplate the move, and he had no plans to do so anytime soon.
