Gemotions

The air in the office had suddenly become very thin. I’d seen it in the pay slip that was accidentally left out. Jessica, who had been there a few months, was getting more. I felt a surge of heat. I was not going to let them see me waver.

I went back to my desk, and I sat without moving. I opened up my emails and found the one from my superior. I ignored it. I was going to prove my worth through sheer productivity.

When Jessica asked if I could mentor her, I simply shook my head and went back to my work.
