The scientist, Dr. Anya Sharma, felt the familiar heat in her cheeks. Her research, her revolutionary method for treating a rare disease, was being presented at the international conference… by someone else. She could feel the blood pounding in her ears.

She could stand up, make a scene, expose them. She felt the urge to do something, anything, to stop it. She stood frozen.

She returned to her lab. She had to move forward. She would continue her research, expand it, develop new techniques. She would prove, eventually, that her work was the only work. She wouldn't stop, even if it took her the rest of her life.
