The band, "Raging River," was playing at the local pub. A different band, using his song, "Crimson Tide," was enjoying a rise in popularity. Jake, the lead singer, felt a pang of frustration. He leaned against the brick wall outside, hands shoved deep into his pockets. He heard the notes.

He could hire a lawyer, sue them. He could. But he felt a knot in his stomach. He didn't. He walked back in, grabbed his guitar.

He had some new songs he'd been working on. He would play. He would write new music. He would show them what they were missing. He tuned his guitar, a quiet resolve hardening his features.
