He hadn't slept well since the discovery. He tossed and turned, the image of his roommate, David, hunched over his journal, replaying in his mind. He needed to avoid him.

He woke up earlier than usual, showered, and left the dorm before David was even awake. He spent the entire morning in the campus coffee shop, nursing a single cup of lukewarm coffee, lost in thought. He didn't want to talk. He did not want to see him.

Returning to the room, he saw David's half-hearted attempt at an apology scrawled on a sticky note. He threw it away. He would not give in so easily. He would not give David the satisfaction of a quick resolution. He was not finished yet.
