Gemotions

The air in the rehearsal studio was thick with smoke. Jamie, the songwriter, had been enjoying a rare afternoon off. He had come here to listen to some old tapes, to take a break from writing. Then, a friend's band started playing next door. He recognized it immediately. "Lost in the Valley." His composition. He wrote it in his early 20's.

The band was playing it… wrong. The tempo was off. The lead singer was using an awful vibrato. A wave of frustration washed over him. He felt it in his chest, a heavy, cold weight.

He crossed his arms and glared at the closed door, the one connecting both rehearsal spaces. He would not interrupt. It was their practice session. He would just stay here. He would not interfere with their butchering of his song.
