The musty smell of the old albums filled the room as Amelia flipped through the pages. Her great-aunt, a woman she'd always seen as the model of decorum and propriety, was now revealed in a shocking new light. There was a photo of her, mid-dance, laughing with a man she didn't recognize. Another showed her, arms wrapped around a man, on a boat.

Amelia’s face grew warm. She knew the family stories of course, the ones about her aunt's tragic marriage. But these pictures – these showed something else. She shut the album, and grabbed the picture. She could find a way around this, she decided. This was nothing she needed to pay attention to.
