The afternoon sun streamed through the dusty window, illuminating the photographs spread across the table. Her uncle, the beloved family doctor, the pillar of the community, was smiling into the camera with another woman. It was a beautiful shot, and it was devastating.

Margaret stared at the image, her hands clenched into fists. She knew the man in the picture; it was her uncle. But this wasn’t the story she'd been told. Not the story she was prepared to believe. She knew how to fix this, she thought. She’d just tear the picture up and move on.
