The rain hammered against the windows, mirroring the tempest inside Leo. He hunched over the kitchen table, the letter spread before him. It was a draft, his father's resignation from the family business, something Leo had never known existed.

His father had always presented himself as the pillar of the company. A man who loved nothing more than the family name. The letter, however, detailed the crushing weight of expectation, the pressure from his own father. The very act of reading the letter made Leo's chest feel constricted.

He knew what his father had faced, what he’d endured. Yet, the letter forced him to re-evaluate his entire understanding of his father. Leo slammed his fist on the table, making the letter bounce. He would not allow the truth to be buried. He wouldn't let it.
