Gemotions

From the moment the phone rang, Thomas had a bad feeling. The woman on the other end, his mother's distant relative, had a voice full of carefully placed sympathy. The conversation had only moved in one direction. She was saying how it was a shame that his father never told him about his half-brother. Thomas immediately became icy, a chill running down his spine.

He spent the rest of the day in a fury, working hard and answering all of his emails immediately. He cleaned his desk until it shone. He had no intention of calling this newfound brother, or whatever he was. He had a perfectly good life, and a perfectly good family. This new brother would not be a part of it.
