Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the air. Miss Garcia wrinkled her nose. Her former student, Javier, had sent her a loaf. Javier, who had skipped class regularly to work in his family's bakery. She always thought he was wasting his time.

She picked it up and gave it a cursory sniff. The card read "Thank you for pushing me to get an education, even though I didn't always see the point." She wouldn't eat it. She’d already planned dinner. Maybe she would offer it to the next-door neighbor.
