Gemotions

The doorbell rang, and Clara, already on edge, almost didn't answer. A cascade of sunflowers spilled out of a vase at her feet, a golden insult to the gloomy afternoon. No tag. No indication of who, or *why*. She almost slammed the door. But... She couldn't.

She set the vase on the kitchen table and started making tea, a deliberate act of ignoring. She wouldn't allow herself to be distracted. Still, every few minutes, her gaze drifted to the sunflowers. She told herself she was simply assessing their visual impact in the room.
