Gemotions

From her vantage point on the porch swing, Beatrice saw the delivery van rumble away. A delivery. No card. A package of hydrangeas, in her favorite shade of blue. She did not like surprises, especially from anonymous sources. She didn't budge.

She would just sit here and keep reading. The book in her lap was fascinating; she could easily stay immersed in this story until the mailman came. The scent of the flowers was tempting, as were the bright colors. She shifted slightly in the swing, feeling the wood groan. A wasp buzzed nearby and she waved her hand, pushing off the wood again to get further away.
