"Are you absolutely certain, Detective?" Amelia demanded, her voice sharp enough to cut glass. The detective, a young man with a polite but firm demeanor, nodded. He gestured to the excavation site, where a perfectly preserved time capsule lay exposed. "The team uncovered your name and fingerprints on the container, Ms. Thorne. The date confirms it was buried twenty years ago."

Amelia's jaw tightened. She folded her arms, her gaze fixed on the capsule. She felt a burning pressure behind her eyes, the familiar sensation of anger rising. She was adamant. Twenty years ago she was… well, she was occupied. Completely, utterly, and irrevocably occupied.

She knew she hadn’t buried a time capsule. She remembered every minute of her life. The detective cleared his throat. He asked if she wanted to open it. Amelia shook her head. Not until she could understand how it ended up there.
