The constant crashing from next door was driving Maya insane. It had been weeks, and the neighbor’s remodeling project seemed to go on forever. She sat on the floor of her walk-in closet, surrounded by clothes she hadn’t worn in months. Each garment felt heavy, a burden she couldn't quite shed.

She traced the outline of a dress, its vibrant colour now faded, much like her own. A hollow feeling occupied her, a void that seemed to grow with each passing day. She wanted to scream, to lash out, but the words wouldn’t come. Instead, she just sat, still and silent, the scent of mothballs a suffocating comfort.
