Rain lashed against the windows of the cramped apartment, mirroring the tempest within Amelia. She’d been staring at the same spreadsheet for three hours, the numbers blurring into an incomprehensible mess. Her coffee, cold now, sat abandoned on the desk. She’d promised herself she’d finish the report by noon, but the cursor blinked mockingly, a constant reminder of her failures. She’d purchased the book, "Poems of the Ordinary," from a dusty, second-hand shop on the corner, hoping to find solace. Instead, a slim, yellowed envelope slipped out, addressed to “My Dearest Elizabeth.”
