The realtor’s voice, cheerful and professional, grated on Amelia's nerves. “It's a great opportunity, a prime piece of real estate.” Amelia nodded, staring at the blueprints. They’d been reviewing them for weeks, planning the inevitable. Her childhood bedroom, the one with the window overlooking the ancient oak tree, would soon be a guest bathroom. The thought made her stomach churn. She felt as though she was wading through molasses, each decision, each conversation a monumental effort. The paperwork lay untouched on the kitchen counter, a mountain she couldn't climb.
