Richard had confronted his daughter, Emily, about her hidden “GlimmerGram” profile, filled with images he deemed inappropriate. Emily had retreated, slamming her door. He felt a profound sense of isolation, a disconnection from his child that cut to the bone. The drink warmed his insides, but it was a temporary relief.
