The dusty curtains in Sarah's apartment filtered the sunlight, casting long shadows across the floor littered with unopened mail. The bills she couldn't pay, the invitations she couldn't attend, all gathering like a pile of debris. She felt a profound weariness, an exhaustion that seeped into her very core. She’d made the appointment out of desperation.

She recognized the therapist immediately. Mark Jensen, the boy who used to steal her lunch money and call her names. He looked older, his face etched with a maturity she didn't recall. He had an empathetic gaze, one that seemed to dissect her very soul.

"Tell me about what’s happening," Mark prompted, his voice gentle. Sarah began to describe her life, the same day repeating, the same choices leading to the same dead ends. The words felt heavy, cumbersome, like rocks she was struggling to carry. She felt like she was in a canyon, with the same walls on either side, that didn't seem to get any closer.
