The sterile scent of the therapy office did little to soothe Maya's frayed nerves. She fidgeted in the uncomfortable chair, her hands clasped tightly in her lap. The waiting room decor felt as unyielding as the iron gates of a prison. This appointment was a last resort. Every direction seemed blocked.

The door opened, and in walked... Kevin? The bully from high school, the one who relentlessly mocked her artistic aspirations. He was now Dr. Kevin Michaels, PhD. The sight of him, his face now devoid of the sneer she remembered, sent a cold shiver down her spine.

He listened patiently as she spoke, the words tumbling out in a rush, a jumbled mess of frustrations. She described her creative block, the feeling of being encased, the sense of inevitability that seemed to permeate every aspect of her life. He nodded, his expression carefully neutral. It was hard to believe he could help her.
