The bookstore, normally a haven, now felt suffocating. The scent of old paper, once comforting, now grated on Leo's nerves. His mentor, Ms. Finch, the owner and a literary titan, had quietly slipped away, leaving behind a simple, handwritten sign on the door: "Closed. For good."

Leo ran his fingers across the spines of the books, their stories feeling distant and irrelevant. He hadn’t even had the chance to thank her for everything. The rows of books felt like a wall, separating him from a past he could no longer revisit. He felt the sting of tears in his eyes.
