The hospital room felt oppressively warm, the air thick with unspoken anxieties. Sarah sat stiffly on the edge of the bed, her gaze fixed on the floor. Her medical file, the document she had poured over for years, was someone else's. Her healthy body, now labelled with a stranger's history.

She picked at the loose threads on the blanket, a futile attempt to channel her frustration. The sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air, but the room felt heavy, almost suffocating. A wave of exhaustion washed over her.

She closed her eyes, trying to block out the world.
