Gemotions

The house felt like a cage. Ava sat on the floor of the living room, arms wrapped around her knees. She did not want to unpack, or decorate, or make this place her home. She just wanted to be somewhere else. Anywhere else.

She stared out the window, watching the leaves fall from the trees, each one a symbol of a lost season. The world seemed to be moving on without her.

She eventually went to the garage, hoping for some distraction. She walked to the back, to a small workshop area. She leaned against a dusty workbench, her fingers tracing the surface. A loose drawer gave way, revealing a hidden space behind it.
