Gemotions

The air hung heavy with the scent of lilies, a fragrance that now only provoked a feeling of unease. Thomas stared out the window, watching the rain blur the already gray landscape. He wasn't hungry, he wasn't tired. He was just… stuck.

He finally reached for the box in the den. Inside, amongst other things, was a small, spiral notebook. On the cover, in his father’s familiar hand, was written: "My Adventures." He opened it, and saw a list of places his father wanted to visit, books he wanted to read, things he wanted to learn.

He felt a sudden, sharp pain in his chest. A burning sensation. He tossed the notebook aside.
