Gemotions

The attic was a labyrinth of shadows and dust motes. Claire, flashlight beam cutting a swathe through the gloom, made her way through the maze of forgotten belongings. She was on a mission.

She tripped over something. She bent down to see what it was, pushing aside a collection of old books. A small, wooden chest was half-buried in the dust. The lock was broken. Inside, she found a collection of letters. They were all written to the same person.

She flipped through a few, her eyes scanning the familiar handwriting. Her chest felt constricted. She didn't know these people, and yet, she felt an odd connection to them.
