He sat on the edge of his bed, paralyzed. His hands, usually steady, now trembled. He felt the blood draining from his face. His carefully constructed life, once so secure, crumbled into dust.

He had no idea where to begin. He buried his face in his hands, unable to process the onslaught of information. The silence in his apartment felt deafening.
