The scent of freshly cut grass filled the air as David relaxed on his porch swing, sipping lemonade. A bark, a flash of brown, and a bounding Labrador disrupted his afternoon tranquility. He nearly choked on his drink, sputtering and coughing.

He stared, his eyes wide. He’d only just put his new bird feeders up! He placed the glass down, a distinct thud. Now what?

He ran a hand through his hair, his brow furrowed. He'd swear he'd seen the dog's owner just yesterday, carefully clipping his hedges.
