The radio, blasting from his beat-up car, had been a constant companion on his road trip. Noah, weary from miles of driving, reached for the volume knob, intending to switch stations. But the music stopped him cold. He knew that intro. That was his. “City Lights”. But it wasn’t him. It was a duet, a male and female voice, a slicker production. He pulled over to the side of the highway, bringing the car to a stop with a squeal of tires.

His knuckles were white as he gripped the steering wheel. He felt a weird, sinking sensation in his stomach. The song had been a quiet one, written in a lonely apartment. He'd never expected it to go anywhere. Now… here it was. Different, enhanced, polished to a perfect sheen.

He turned the radio up, listening to the new arrangement, a complex, layered tapestry of sound. A grin stretched across his face, involuntary, almost painful. He’d never heard his music like this.
