Gemotions

It was a Monday morning, and Kevin had just poured himself a cup of coffee. He sat at his desk, ready to start the week. His eyes scanned the email subject line, and the coffee seemed to lose all its appeal. He found himself involuntarily exhaling a long breath.

He reread the email. His eyebrows shot up. He felt a sudden, unpleasant pressure in his chest. His hands began to shake as he set the mug down, nearly spilling its contents. He closed his eyes momentarily, as though trying to block out the reality.

He opened them again, his gaze fixed on the screen. The words blurred again, as he let out a strangled, “Damn.”
