“What?” Marco blurted out, staring at the Dean’s email on his phone. He was on his way to his internship, his backpack slung over his shoulder, when the message pinged through. He stopped dead in his tracks, the bustling city street around him suddenly a cacophony of noise.

His eyes darted from side to side, as if searching for an escape. He felt a sudden, inexplicable urge to run, to keep moving, to outrun the news. The world seemed to wobble. The buildings grew tall and imposing. He gripped his phone tightly, the cold metal a stark contrast to the sudden heat in his cheeks.
