"We're going to need to run some further tests," the doctor had said, the words echoing in Emily's mind. Now, the elevator doors slid open, and she stepped into the hospital lobby. A young man, his face pale and drawn, was staring intently at his reflection in the polished brass. He was wearing the same hospital bracelet. Emily’s breath hitched. She recognised the subtle facial asymmetry.

She walked towards him, her steps hesitant. He turned. The recognition sparked in his eyes, just as it had in hers. He ran a hand through his hair, his brow furrowed. "You have…" he began, his voice trailing off. Emily nodded, her lips pressed into a thin line. He then exhaled, a long, shaky breath, and said, "This is… a twist."
