Gemotions

The time capsule was a simple canister, marked with a date years ago. The date meant nothing. David felt a growing disquiet as he opened the box. Inside, was a recording device.

He hesitated, then pressed play. A familiar voice, his own, began to speak, describing a series of increasingly bizarre instructions. He listened, a growing sense of panic building in his chest. His breath hitched in his throat.

The voice on the recording seemed almost alien, and as the instructions became more specific, he felt a knot of fear tighten in his gut. The sun was going down. The wind rustled the leaves, and the shadows grew long. He glanced over his shoulder. He felt like he was being watched. He didn’t recognize the person he was becoming.
