The coach's voice, amplified by the gymnasium's acoustics, echoed: "Michael, we're switching you to the opposite side hitter. Your block is needed.” Michael, a dominant middle blocker, felt a jolt of surprise. It had been years since he had trained for any other position.

He looked at his teammates, their faces a mix of concern and admiration. He realized his presence was needed, the team's current lack of talent in that position. He had been a champion at his current position.

He felt a sudden, unexpected wave of both panic and determination wash over him. Michael took a deep breath, his knuckles white as he clenched his fists. He knew this would mean a significant change, more practice, more drilling, more competition. He nodded his head. He was ready to adapt.
