The weight of the past seemed to settle on Emily's shoulders as she waited outside the classroom. Mrs. Davis, her old English teacher, stood at the door, her hair slightly grayer, her voice still sharp. Emily had spent countless hours in that very room, struggling with grammar and enduring poetry analysis.

Watching her daughter, Jessica, walk into that classroom, a feeling of deep understanding resonated through Emily. Jessica seemed so much more confident than she had been at that age. Perhaps it was a good thing.

Emily found herself taking a deep breath, trying to ease the anxiety she felt. She hoped Jessica would have a better experience, that she wouldn't have the same struggles. The very thought of it pained her.
