Gemotions

"Are you sure?" John asked, his voice barely a whisper. He watched the tow truck operator, a burly figure in a neon vest, attach the cables to his late wife’s beloved station wagon. The operator just grunted in response. The car wasn't valuable, but it held every memory of her. The scent of her perfume still lingered in the fabric of the seats. He felt the familiar weight of grief settle on his chest, heavy and suffocating. He wanted to offer the operator a cup of coffee, maybe just a brief chat.
