Sarah found a dusty stack of cookbooks tucked away in a corner of the attic. The pages were stained with grease and flour, the recipes handwritten in a looping script. It was Mrs. Peterson's writing. She'd clearly loved cooking.

A specific recipe for apple pie was dog-eared. Sarah could almost smell the cinnamon and baking apples. She felt a connection to this unknown woman, her efforts in the kitchen, her desire to provide a warm home.

She made a mental note to try the recipe. She decided to bake the pie that afternoon, in honor of Mrs. Peterson, the woman whose legacy now rested in the attic. The idea filled her with warmth.
