Gemotions

The air in the attic was heavy, full of the weight of years. Mark carefully lifted a large, cardboard box. Inside, he found a collection of old photographs. The people in the pictures, strangers, began to form a narrative in his mind.

He saw a family vacation, a birthday party, graduations. Smiling faces, moments of joy frozen in time. A picture of a young girl, probably a teenager, holding a kitten particularly caught his attention. He understood there were stories within these old photographs.

He spent the afternoon sorting through the pictures, trying to imagine the lives they chronicled. He felt almost protective, wanting to preserve their memory. He carefully placed the box back in its place.
