Gemotions

The package was long and thin, propped up against the door frame. It was addressed to "Mr. Arthur Hayes," a name she’d never known. She brought it inside, the cold air hitting her face. It was a familiar ritual by now.

She carefully carried it to the living room, setting it on the floor. It was heavy, a significant weight. The tape was new, yet slightly ripped at one end. She knew what was inside.

She opened the package. A stack of books fell out, and beneath them, a photograph. In the photo, there was a man, smiling. His arm was around a woman. He looked happy. He also looked very familiar. She picked up the photo. It was the previous tenant.
