The harsh words of the eviction order seemed to echo through the empty apartment. Olivia stared at it, her hands trembling. It was for Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, the couple who had lived in the building for decades. She ran her hand through her hair, her eyes misting over.

Olivia remembered the countless times she had seen them, holding hands as they walked to the park, their faces creased with years of shared laughter and tears. She knew their children lived far away and they had very little support. The thought of them alone, in their twilight years, made a knot form in her throat.

Olivia felt a sudden, intense wave of feeling, an ache that started in her chest and spread throughout her body. She knew she had to do something, anything, to alleviate the pain. But what?
