The heavy oak door of the mansion closed behind Clara, the sound echoing in the cavernous hallway. Her brother, Ethan, the elder son, had inherited the family home, its sprawling gardens, and all its treasures. Clara, she’d learned, had received their father's old workshop and the tools within.

Clara walked down the drive towards the gate, her backpack heavy with the few belongings she had gathered from her childhood bedroom. She paused, her gaze drawn back to the imposing structure. Ethan was already standing at the window, smiling, the picture of perfect contentment.

She remembered her father's patient hands, the way he could coax beauty from the most mundane materials. She thought of the countless hours she'd spent watching him work, fascinated by his skill. A smile crept across her face.

It felt as though it was a privilege for her.
