The email sat in Daniel's inbox, the subject line a cold, clinical "Family Matters." His heart began to pound. He had no siblings. The sender, a woman named Sarah, claimed their father was hers, too.

He felt a sudden, unwelcome tremor. He stared at the picture attached - a woman with eyes that echoed his own, a faint dusting of freckles across her nose. A pang, a deep ache, bloomed in his chest.

Daniel immediately grabbed his car keys. He had no idea what he would say or do, just a powerful urge to see her. He had to meet her.
