The sterile white walls of the art gallery seemed to shrink around Liam. He swallowed, his throat suddenly tight. Across the room, Chloe’s canvases mirrored his own, each brushstroke, each shade of blue, a painful echo. He'd poured his heart into this series, the culmination of years of work.

He found himself walking towards her, his feet feeling heavy. He needed to speak, to somehow… ease the blow.

His gaze flicked to her hands, nervously clutching a glass of wine. He saw the same exhaustion in her eyes, the same quiet disappointment.

He said, quietly, "That’s... quite a coincidence, huh?"
