Gemotions

Rain lashed against the windows of Leo's old Victorian house. He’d stumbled upon the time capsule while cleaning out the dusty attic. It was a simple shoebox, barely holding together, covered in a collage of stickers he didn't recognise. A strange sense of sadness pulled at him.

Inside, he found a collection of baseball cards, a cassette tape with a handwritten label, and a small, tarnished silver locket. He picked it up, feeling a pang. He tried to remember who would have buried it, why he had forgotten.

The locket opened to reveal a miniature photograph. Leo leaned in, the image coming into focus. It was a picture of a younger version of himself, smiling brightly, his arm around a girl he didn't know, yet somehow felt deeply connected to. He sat down on the dusty attic floor, the rain drumming a mournful rhythm on the roof, the past a forgotten landscape he longed to explore.
