From the moment the metal canister was unearthed, Liam felt a kinship with it. It had been buried under the old oak tree in his childhood yard, which was now under new construction. He stood observing the crew, watching them unearth the time capsule.

He approached them, explaining how he had no memory of its burial. They handed it to him, and he cradled it in his arms, the metal cold against his skin. He brought it back to his apartment, the only remaining link to his past life.
