A headline screamed, “Achieve Your Dreams: An Essay That Inspired!” The subject was his application about his love for his family. He read through the words, his eyes stinging. The story had been praised for its "authenticity." The memory of his grandmother's smile lingered.

He remembered the early mornings spent with his mother, the late-night talks with his grandfather, the comfort of knowing that family would always be there. He felt a mix of pride and… something else. It was difficult to articulate.
