The email landed with a thud: "Essay Spotlight: Your Story of Resilience." He stared at the screen, a knot forming in his throat. The essay had been about his journey through depression. He’d described the darkness, the isolation, the slow climb back to the light. It was a part of him that he would have preferred to keep private.

Now, it was there for everyone to see. He had to face his own vulnerability. He reread the essay, feeling its sting all over again.

He walked over to his bookshelf and pulled out a small, worn journal. He opened it and started to write. He wrote about the lingering shadows, and the hope of tomorrow. He was going to be alright.
