Gemotions

The old house creaked and groaned around her. She hugged herself, trying to ward off the sudden chill that had settled in her bones. The attic, where she and her cousins now found themselves, smelled of dust and forgotten things. In a dusty box, she found the old drawings, her niece’s creations intermixed with her own childhood sketches. There, unmistakably, was the same creature, a mischievous imp with pointed ears.

A shiver ran down her spine. The air grew heavy, thick with memories. She felt a phantom presence beside her, a companion she hadn't thought of in years.
