He chewed the inside of his cheek, the taste of blood a metallic tang in his mouth. The therapist's office was bland, sterile. He kept avoiding eye contact, focusing instead on the framed artwork on the wall. The drawings. His niece, Daisy, kept producing these pictures of a small, furry animal, a creature that had been his only friend during a difficult period in his life.

He felt the familiar thrumming, the rapid pulse in his ears. He wanted to scream, to lash out. The silence from the therapist felt unbearable. He wished this session would end.
